Valentine's Day Mommy & Me class a success!

Yesterday, I held my first Mommy and Me class.  We had so much fun making some cute Valentine's day cards and treats to give to family, friends and teachers!  We made 5 projects; a heart shaped box that holds four 3x3 cards, a chocolate treat holder using the petal die card, a heart treat cup card filled with yummy cinnamon hearts and, my favorite, a gum wrapper.  The girls LOVED the projects! And more importantly, they were so proud of what they made...on their own!

Here are some pictures:

I used the Sending Love Designer Specialty paper from the Occasions mini.  You can't really see on the pictures but this paper is so sparkly.  And with Real Red, Pretty in Pink and Very Vanilla colors, how can you not LOVE this paper!?!

If you have any questions about these projects, just ask :-)

I am planning an Easter Mommy & Me class for the weekend of March 27 - 28th.  What kind of projects would YOU like to see? Leave me a comment and let me know.

Happy Monday!

Faux Wood Technique

This is the card we made at our Stampers Club last week. My stampers requested I come up with some masculine cards. Something everyone seems to have a hard time with. I have been hearing about this Faux Wood technique and so decided to scout it out and see how it's done. Thanks to Google, I found some great video tutorials out the in the blog world :)

Supplies
Stamp set: Party Hearty
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Kraft, Very Vanilla
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel (craft)
Paper: Manchester (retired)
Accessories: Scallop Circle punch, 3/4" Circle punch, Chocolate Chip Stampin' write marker, Stamping sponges, ruler, paper cutter, Stampin' Dimensionals

To get the wood look, you simply drag your ink pad across your piece of card stock. I used Kraft cardstock and started with my Close to Cocoa ink pad first. I did the same thing with the Chocolate Chip, and then Creamy Caramel. I then used a ruler and traced lines at every 3/4" with my Chocolate Chip marker. I free handed the "planks" and finished the wood background by adding nail holes. Pretty simple, right?

Happy Sunday!

Stampin’ Girls Convention – WOW swap

Last week I posted that it was a crazy busy week for me. I had a workshop, a stamp club to prepare for and I was working on my items for the WOW swap for the Stampin’ Girls Convention hosted by my upline Josee (it was great fun btw...and another perk of being a demonstrator!).

So what is a WOW swap!?! It’s an exchange of projects with other demonstrators. We had to make either a 3D project, a hostess gift...basically anything but a card, using current SU products that would WOW our fellow demonstrators. I received some REALLY COOL stuff! Today I thought I would post pictures of my WOW item. It was a lot of work but so much fun and totally worth it. I am quite happy with how they turned out and I got a few WOWS! :)

I made this cute box with 3 x 3 cards. It fits 4 cards and envelops but I only had time to make 3 cards. I made 40 of these… so 40 boxes and 120 cards! WOW right?
