Simple Inspired by Nature Card Using Few Supplies

Here is one of the cards that we made at my monthly card class last Thursday.

I saw a similar card to this one on the web. I thought this was a fantastic way to show that you can make beautiful cards with only a few products. The image was stamped with Versamark which is a clear pigment ink that gives the effect of a watermark. I think that this is one item that you should own when you are just starting out. By having the Versamark, you then have a color of ink that matches any cardstock you have on hand.

Supplies
Stamps: Inspired by Nature (#111656), Teeny Tiny Wishes (# 115370)
Cardstock: Dusty Durango
Ink: Versamark
Accessories: Hemp twine, Mini library clips, Dimensionals, paper cutter, adhesive

Step by step instruction:

1. Cut a sheet of 8 ½ x 11 in half length wise to give you a piece that measures 8 ½ x 5 ½. Fold in half. This is our card base.

2. Cut another piece out of the same color of cardstock measuring 4 x 5 ¼ to use as your card front.

3. Ink your stamp in the Versamark, stamp it on the 4 x 5 ¼ piece of cardstock. I stamped the grass image first, then the flower image.

4. Distress the edges of the piece of cardstock using a distress tool (or do as I do, use your scissors!)

5. Wrap a piece of hemp twine around the piece of cardstock.

6. Stamp your sentiment on a strip of scrap cardstock. Trim as desired.

7. Adhere the strip with dimensional. Add mini library clip to end.

8. Adhere your card front to the base of the card.

For an added touch, I like to stamp the envelop as well. I like when things match! *smile*

Happy Friday!

Simple card...using the basics!

With all of the great products such as paper punches, die cutters, embellishments such as brads, buttons, ribbon and so much more, we forget about the basics.  You can make beautiful cards using stamps, ink and paper.  This is what we call a SIP card!

Here is a card I designed for Melissa's card class with her work colleagues.

She wanted a card that was quick, easy but still pretty! I think we succeeded in showing new stampers that everyone can stamp, whether you are crafty or not : )

Supplies:
Stamps: Circle Circus, Well Scripted
Cardstock: Kraft, Ruby Red, Ivory Naturals
Ink: Ruby Red, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Paper Cutter, Snail Adhesive

Now if you wanted to step this card up a little, you could easily do that by adding a few embellishments.  Circle punches are great punches to own, especially when working with a stamp set such as Circle Circus.  To add some dimension to this card, I stamped the smaller circle in Ruby Red classic ink on Ruby Red cardstcok and then punched it out with a 3/4" circle punch.  I then popped them up by using some dimensionals. Add a little Chocolate Chip 1/4" grosgrain ribbon and voila!

Supplies:

Stamps: Circle Circus, Well Scripted
Cardstock: Kraft, Ruby Red, Ivory Naturals
Ink: Ruby Red, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Paper Cutter, Snail Adhesive, dimensionals, 3/4" Circle Punch,
1/4" Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon,

If you would be interested in introducing stamping to your friends or work colleagues, email me to get more information on hosting a private class or workshop.

Everyone who books one in April or May gets to pick a FREE stamp set out of my booking bucket! Act fast before all the dates, and stamps sets, are gone!!!

Heartfelt Words Delivered in Beautiful Spring Cards

For those of you who know me personally, you already know that these last few months have been trying for my family.  Sickness has been in our house since November.  Stomach flu, cold flu, ear infections...you name it, we got it this winter...multiple times!  It's been hard on the kids, especially my 18 month old, but we knew that it would run its course and be done.

Then two weeks ago, my wonderful father-in-law passed away unexpectantly.  The hardship of the past few months now seemed minimal compared to this.  As you can imagine, his passing has been very difficult for all of us.  We are finding comfort in all the wonderful memories that we shared with him to help us get through these difficult times.  I want to thank my family, friends as well as my customers for their kind thoughts and words of encouragement.  *Hugs*

For obvious reasons, I have not stamped in a while but did want to share some beautiful hand made cards I received.

This card is from my wonderful friend Tracie.  She made these beautiful tulips using the XL Bird Punch from the Occasions mini catalogue.  Isn't that clever!? I don't know who came up with the idea initially but these tulips have been all over the web. Some in bouquets, some in vases... all very cute!

This card was made by the sweet Marlayne.  The Medallion stamp is one of my go-to stamps.  It is so versatile that you can use it for everything!  Check out my class schedule for details on an upcoming class this month, using the Medallion stamp.

I plan on spending some much needed time in my stamp space tonight.  It is my therapy of choice *smile*

I hope to share some of my own projects with you soon : )
Have a great day!
