Here's a layout cased from the June 2011 Stampin' Success (a publication for Stampin up! demonstrators). When I saw the Open Sea stamp set and designer paper, I knew exactly what pictures I wanted to "scrap".

I took these of Owen in August of 2007. He was just a month shy of turning 3. Our friends Tracey and Aaron invited us to their cottage in Morrisburg, ON. It's on the St-Lawrence where these large cargo boats (for lack of a better name) travel. Owen played on the shore for hours hoping that he would get to see a boat go by.

He finally did get to see one... Now I have to scrap those pictures too. Stay tuned!

Strength & Hope Card Class - Join the Cause and Stamp Out Breast Cancer!

Join the Cause and Stamp Out Breast Cancer!

As part of our Making a Difference program, Stampin' Up! is proud to partner with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation in the Strength & Hope Campaign.

Throughout the 2011 Summer Mini Catalogue sales period, Stampin' Up! will donate $2 from the sale of each Strength & Hope set and Strength & Hope digital kit to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

I was inspired by this campaign and by friends of mine who are participating in the Walk to End Women’s Cancers in June. In honor of close friends and all women out there, who have battled and are currently battling this disease, I am hosting a fundraiser for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.

We will make four cards, all using the Strength and Hope stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalogue. Proceeds from this class ($8 from each participant’s fee) will be donated to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation along with 20% of all product purchased at the event.

When: Monday, May 30th - 7pm to 9pm

Where: My home in Barrhaven (Ottawa, ON)

Wow! I can't believe that I haven't posted in almost a month! We are getting ready to sell our house so needless to say that things are busy. Trying to get a house ready to sell with two young boys sure can be challenging at times. I told my husband tonight that we either have to eat out every night or eat raw food until this house sells! Oh! And the kids can't touch anything!!! I am sure that's gonna work out *wink*

Nature Walk Top Note Card

There are a lot of cool things about being a Stampin' Up demonstrator, but hands down one of my favourites is the magazine called Stampin' Success that we receive in the mail each month. It is packed full of business tips, and great samples. This card is inspired by one from the February issue of Stampin' Success and features the Nature Walk (W121925/C121997) stamp set from the Occasion Mini catalog.

Step by Step Directions

Fold Soft Suede card base in half.
Cut Bashful Blue mat to 4 x 5.25
Cut Top Note out of Very Vanilla using the Big Shot.
Stamp bird cage on mat randomly in Bashful Blue.
Stamp images using Bashful Blue and Soft Suede randomly on the Top Note.
Sponge edges of Top Note with Soft Suede.
Using direct to pad with Bashful Blue, run over top of Top Note.
Attach Top Note to Bashful Blue mat using SNAIL. Affix brad through. Attach to card base with SNAIL.
Tie bow out of ribbon and attach to the card with Mini Glue Dots.

Inked Embossing Technique

This is based on a swap card a friend received at the Leadership Conference a few weeks back. This simple technique creates a new effect with your embossing folders by inking them with a brayer!

Technique Directions

Using brayer, ink up embossing folder. Be sure to pay attention to which side you are inking. Here, the "flat side" was inked to get the background inked. Also, you want to really ink it up!
Run through the Big Shot as normal and you'll have a fun and funky background.

Finishing Touches

Cut and fold card base in half.
Create ink embossed panel as above. Attach Bashful Blue Taffeta Ribbon as shown.
Adhere embossed panel to Bashful Blue mat with SNAIL and then adhere to card base.
Stamp "birthday wishes" greeting in Soft Suede Classic on Very Vanilla and punch with Decorative Label.
Punch Modern Label out of Bashful Blue and cut in half. Layer on back of Decorative Label with greeting. Attach to card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Top off greeting piece with Basic Pearls as shown.

Inlayed Embossing Technique

This is a quick and easy technique that packs a punch – literally and figuratively. With the Big Shot, an Embossing Folder and a punch, you can create backgrounds that wow!

Technique Directions

Punch desired shapes and adhere to base randomly using SNAIL. Make sure you get the edges of each punched shape down completely.
Run through the Big Shot using the embossing folder of your choice. The punched shape should now be part of the mat creating a single panel.

Finishing Touches

Cut and fold card base in half.
Create inlaid embossing panel as above.
Using Pinking Hearts Border Punch create border strip with Whisper White cardstock.
Layer ribbon pieces around the back and affix with SNAIL. Attach to embossed layer. Attach to card base.
Stamp greeting in Real Red and punch out with large oval.
Punch scallop oval out of glimmer paper and adhere greeting with SNAIL. Attach to card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Cupcake Frosting Technique

Cupcakes are one of the hottest trends in papercrafting, and the new build a Cupcake punch is perfect for creating these little cuties on your cards and scrapbook pages. One of the best parts of the cupcake is the frosting, so this week's technique will help you step you your cupcakes with a bit of heat embossing.

Technique Directions

Using a small container mix together equal parts of White Embossing Powder and Dazzling Diamonds. Be sure to mix them well.
Take punched out "top" of cupcake and apply Versamark. Cover with embossing powder/dazzling diamonds mixture and tap off excess. Heat and set with Heat Tool.
Allow to cool and repeat to build up frosting.

Finishing Touches

Fold cardbase in half.
Take piece of Soft Suede cardstock and run through paper crimmer. Punch out bottom of cupcake.
Punch cherry out of glimmer paper.
Punch circle out of Whisper White and stamp greeting towards bottom in Red Classic.
Attach bottom of cupcake to circle using SNAIL, attach top using a Stampin' Dimensional and the cherry with a glue dot.
Add ribbon to card base using SNAIL. Cut off at left edge and cut on angle towards the right hand edge.

Add circle with cupcake using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Step by Step Directions

Cut a Pretty in Pink Petal Cone Die, and then a Rose Red Petal Cone Die.
Take Rose Red die cut piece and roll over top with wheel and Rose Red Ink
Attach the two cones together using flaps along the side and sticky strip.
Attach banner to heart using SNAIL.
Take 2.5 x 2.5 piece of newsprint paper and add spirals along the left hand side using punch. Scrumple up and smooth out. Attach to heart using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Using Full Heart Punch, punch out heart out of Red Glimmer Paper Attach to project using Stampin' Dimensionals. Cut spinner hand in half using pliers and attach to back of heart with Glue Dots. Add button with Linen Thread bow using Glue Dots.
Stamp definition in Basic Black on Pink Pirouette, punch out with Decorative Label Punch. Attach to project with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Step by Step Directions

Cut out Fancy Favor Box out of Love Patterns Designer Series Paper using Big Shot. Assemble box using Sticky Strip.
Cut out handle for box using Tasteful trim die. Add handle to the box on the inside using Sticky Strip.
Stamp "love you" in Real Red on Whisper White. Punch out with small oval punch.
Punch large oval out of glimmer paper, add greeting on top with SNAIL.
Punch scallop oval out of Pink Pirouette and attach other ovals on with SNAIL.
Add to the box with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Chipboard is one of those items that most people just don't know on earth they'd do with it. This week we'll cover it with Designer Series Paper and learn a few tips and tricks for making it work for you.

Technique Directions

Take chipboard and cover top with Tombo Mono Glue
Apply paper on top and set aside and allow to dry
Once dry take your paper snips and trim off excess paper.

Tips & Tricks

Sand off extra pieces with sanding block, for smaller pieces use the files from the distressing kit. These are very handy when you are dealing with the inside of a letter!
To "finish" edges, gently sponge with coordinating ink. On this project the edges are inked with Pretty in Pink ink.

Finishing Touches

Fold cardbase in half.
Emboss Early Espresso piece in Big Shot using Polkadot Embossing Folder. Attach to card base using SNAIL.
Run Whisper White piece through Big Shot using Scallop Square.
Stamp greeting towards bottom using Early Espresso Ink. Attach square to cardbase using SNAIL.
Attach finished chipboard heart to scallop square using glue dots.
Punch heart from glimmer paper and attach with a glue dot.

Step by Step Directions

Cut Basic Black to 5.5 x 8.5 and fold in half.
Cut Very Vanilla to 5.25 x 4 and run through Big Shot with Vintage Wallpaper Folder.
Stamp greeting in Cherry Cobbler on a scrap of Very Vanilla, punch out with Full Heart Punch and set aside.
Run piece of Cherry Cobbler through Big Shot using Heart Embosslit. Attach punched heart to Big Shot one using SNAIL.
Tuck left edge of ribbon under and attach using SNAIL. Carefully attach ribbon to embossed panel using glue dots to about the half way point.
Take a piece of linen thread and tie a bow, and include the key.
Affix the rest of the ribbon using glue dots, trim edge on an angle and leave it so it over hangs.
Attach embossed panel to card base using SNAIL.
Attach heart to finished card using Stampin' Dimensionals

Step by Step Directions

Cut two Top Notes out of Crumb Cake cardstock.
Stamp Christmas Collage in Crumb Cake classic ink on Crumb Cake cardstock.
Cut paper sack down to 2.5 inches.
Take top note and punch small oval on the first top note to create a handle. Line up the first one on top of the second one and punch the second handle.
Adhere the two top notes to the treat sac with Sticky Strip. Trim off pointy parts of top note on the bottom.
Stamp greeting in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla cardstock and punch out with the Wide Oval. Attach to the bag with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Stamp Santa in Early Espresso classic on Very Vanilla. Cut out and then color hat with Real Red marker, tongue with Regal Rose and skin with Blush Blossom. Attach Santa to the bag with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Technique

Stamp image in desired ink.
Color with Blender Pen and Watercolor Wonder Crayons.

Tips and Tricks: To keep your crayons fresh and extend their life, take the color from the flat end of the crayon using your blender pen and apply to your project. For larger images, you can color using the chisel tip and then disburse the color using the blender pen.
Finishing Touches

Cut Top Note out of Real Red using the Big Shot.
Cut larger of the Scallop Squares out of Crumb Cake using the Big Shot.
Stamp image in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla and then punch out with circle punch.
Color image in with crayons and blender pen.
Sponge edges with Crumb Cake Classic Ink for a vintage feel.
Attach Scallop Square to the Top Note using SNAIL. Layer colored image on top using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Stamp greeting in Garden Green Classic on Very Vanilla cardstock, punch with Modern Label and then attach to project using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Set eyelet using Crop-A-Dile and tie knot with twill tape.
Add glitter underneath the girl using the 2-Way Glue Pen.

Both of these tins had a magnet on the bottom which was quickly removed with some scissors.

Using Big Shot create snowflake from Baja Breeze cardstock.

Cut strip of Designer Series paper to fit on tin. Attach using sticky strip.
Punch snowflake from Baja Breeze, attach to lid with glue dot. Top off with a rhinestone.

Technique Directions

Cut Designer Series Paper to 5.75 to 3. You may need to trim a hair off the 5.75 inch side to make it fit into the envelope.

Lick flap and slide Designer Series Paper into envelope.

On the front it will look like this. Trim off overhang with paper snips.

Fold along crease with bone folder. You can keep it shut with SNAIL or Dotto.

Finishing Touches

Take card base and fold in half.
Ink up Christmas Collage background stamp with Soft Suede and stamp on Crumb Cake.
Attach stamped panel to Soft Suede mat with SNAIL.
Attach ribbon in behind panel, and then attach ribbon and panel to card as shown.
Stamp greeting in Soft Suede on Crumb Cake cardstock and punch with Decorative Label. Attach to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Trim edge of ribbon as shown and then top off with a Very Vanilla button using a glue dot.
Add pearls to bottom right of stamped image.

You can step up your cards by lining your envelopes this year. This a great way to add some elegance to your projects while using up extra Designer Series Paper!

Technique of the Week: Embossed Vellum

Technique Directions

Run cardstock Vellum through Big Shot using desired embossing folder.
Attach to project using Mini Glue Dots. You want to place the glue dots where they will be covered up by accessories or stamped images.

Notes:

With this technique, you want to make sure you use Cardstock Vellum. It is heavier and runs through the Big Shot without tearing. Lighter weight Vellum will tear as it is embossed.
This is a great way to add texture in a unique way.

Finishing Touches

Take card base and fold in half.
Emboss vellum and attach using glue dots as outlined above.
Attach ribbon to card by tucking edges of ribbon underneath edge and ensuring they are covered up on the flip side.
Stamp a butterfly on Whisper White - one each of Blushing Bride, Concord Crush and Peach Parfait – and punch out with Butterfly Punch and put aside. Attach to card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Top off each butterfly with a Basic Rhinestone.

Cards that wow don't have to be complicated or time consuming. Simple and elegant techniques like this one can take things to the next level without a lot of extra steps! Try it today :)

Candy Wrapper Stocking Stuffer

With every new catalog, it is fun to see what new products are available for the Big Shot. The Holiday Mini included a number of new products, including the super cute Candy Wrapper Bigz Die (120890). It will make a perfect stocking stuffer, table favour, or wrapping for a tiny gift this holiday season! It's important with this die that you read the instructions that come with it and fold along all the score lines before you put it together! It takes a minute to "get" the idea, but once you do, these go together in a snap!

Step by Step Directions

Fold along all score lines, and ensure you fold them backward and forward. Assemble using Sticky strip to hold together and then twist.
Stamp "Dec 25" on Whisper White in Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink and punch out with Decorative Label. Stamp "do not" greeting in Blushing Bride Classic Ink and punch out with 1 inch Circle Punch.
Attach Dec 25^th greeting to assembled box with SNAIL. Attach do not greeting with a Stampin' Dimensional.

Run Northern Frost decorative strip through the Big Shot with a piece of Blushing Bride Cardstock. Set glimmer brad through centre of snowflake and attach with a Stampin' Dimensional.

Project of the Week: Got Treats Halloween Box

When it comes to cute holiday treats for occasions including Halloween, Christmas, Birthdays and Valentine's day, a great go-to stamp set is Got Treats (W119144/C120627). This cute set is perfect for any little treat you'd like to share for the holidays. Here it has been paired with the Fancy Favor Box Die for the Big Shot to create a fun treat holder.

Step by Step Directions

Cut paper as follows:
1. Old Olive piece for Fancy Favor box – 6 x 12
2. Whisper White scrap for stamped image
3. Rich Razzleberry scrap for punched mat for image
4. Basic Black scraps for three punched bats
Run Old Olive piece through the Big Shot using the Fancy Favor Die and then assemble according to instructions using Sticky Strip.
Take markers and color pumpkin image using Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write markers. Huff to re-wet image and then stamp on Whisper White. Punch out with Decorative Label punch.Add googly eyes to pumpkin using Mini Glue Dots.
Punch out another Decorative Label out of Rich Razzleberry cardstock. Cut in half and trim to layer behind stamped image. Attach mat to stamped image with SNAIL. Attach to box with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Punch three bats from Basic Black cardstock. Attach one to front with a Stampin' Dimensional.
Attach one bat to each side using SNAIL.
Using Sticky Strip attach ribbon handle to inside of box.
Set brad through bat on the side and handle, and butterfly on the back. Repeat on the other side.

Take a Kleenex to wipe any extra ink off embossed detail.

Bonus Techniques – Shimmer Paint Spray

Place rubbing alcohol in a small spray bottle.
Add 5-6 drops of Shimmer Paint and shake well.
Spray embossed panel with shimmer paint mixture.

Finishing Touches

Take card base and fold in half.
On bottom right corner stamp greeting as shown in Rich Razzleberry.
Run 2.75 x 4.25 Rich Razzleberry panel through Big Shot with Petals A Plenty Embossing Folder. Spray with shimmer paint mixture and set aside to dry.
Cut out emboss resist medallion with paper snips and set antique brad in the middle.
Attach embossed piece to the card base with SNAIL.
Affix Rich Razzleberry ribbon along the seam under the embossed piece with SNAIL, cut off edges so they are square with the edge.

Project of the Week: Vintage Holiday Scrapbook Page

It's always a good time to work on holiday-themed scrapbook pages! Whether you want to catch up on past years, or get a jump on this Christmas, Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper provides a great starting point for pages with a classic, vintage feel. Some simple crochet trim accents and basic pearls complete the page.

Step by Step Directions

Cut paper as follows:

Strip of "holly" designer series paper to 1 x 12
Strip of artichoke patterned piece to 2.5 x 12
Two Crumb Cake photo mats to 6.5 x 4.5
Always Artichoke for tag 4.5 x 2.5

Adhere holly strip of paper about 0.5 inches from top to 12x12 Cherry Cobbler base with SNAIL.
Adhere artichoke strip of paper about 1 inch from bottom of page; attach crochet trim with SNAIL along the bottom seam; add three pearls on right hand side on top of trim.
Add two Crumb Cake mats using SNAIL as shown in top half of page
To create tag, trim the two corners, add hole near top using Crop-A-Dile and run crochet trim through and knot it. Add to layout with SNAIL.
Stamp "Dec 25" in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla and punch out with Decorative Label Punch. Add to layout with Stampin' Dimensionals. Top off pearl at bottom of label.

Autumn Spice Fall Favor Box

Today's project is a quick fall favor box perfect for a gift at a place setting for your fall gatherings, or to hold a small gift. This favour uses the Autumn Spice Designer Series (120808) paper from the Holiday Mini which is absolutely perfect for boxes as it has a heavier weight than normal Designer Series Paper.
Step by Step Directions

Cut desired piece of Designer Series Paper to 6x12.
Take Box #2 die and run through the Big Shot. Place the pattern you'd like to have on the outside of your box down so it is facing the die. Remember, if you have a distinct pattern like the one above to make sure that your pattern is running the right way.
Assemble die cut box by adding sticky strip to the flap and folding the bottom together.
Punch Early Espresso Scallop Circle, then crumble and flatten back out to create texture
Stamp leaf from Day of Gratitude Set in Cajun Craze Classic Ink on Very Vanilla. Cut out using paper snips. Attach to scallop circle using Stampin' Dimensionals. Attach this entire piece to box using SNAIL. Add pearl to leaf as shown.
Stamp "just for you" from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Pear Pizzazz. Cut out with Oval Punch, add to box with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Tie Pear Pizzazz ribbon around the box end to end and tie in a bow.

Technique of the Week: Wax Paper Resist with Embossing Folders

Get out your iron and use it for something fun this week! Using an embossing folder for the Big Shot, your iron and some wax paper, you'll create a one of a kind background for your projects. This card features the new Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (120889) from the Holiday Mini Catalogue.

Scrap of Whisper White, Basic Black, and Elegant Eggplant for punched shapes

Technique Directions

Emboss a piece of wax paper using the Big Shot and the Spider Web Embossing Folder.
Sandwich the embossed piece of wax paper between two pieces of Glossy White cardstock. Cover with a thin towel and then iron on a dry setting that is relatively hot like the one for Cotton. Gently iron until the wax transfers from the wax paper to the cardstock. You will end up with two pieces that have wax on them.
Take your brayer and cover the glossy cardstock as desired, the wax part will resist the ink. For this project, the image was brayered with Basic Black and then lightly sponged with Elegant Eggplant and Rich Razzleberry.
The finished panel will look like this:

Finishing Touches

Fold card base in half.
Attach finished glossy cardstock panel once brayered and sponged to card base using SNAIL.
Using transfer sheet and following directions in the package, place Designer Jewels as shown. For this project, the main flourish image was cut in half and then applied.
Stamp Spooky in Old Olive classic ink on Whisper White and then punch out with Modern Label punch.
Punch out a XL Oval of Elegant Eggplant and then crinkle up. Smooth it out and attach greeting piece using SNAIL.
Cut two separate jewels from Designer Jewel package and add to each end of the greeting. Affix to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Punch bat from Basic Black and attach with Stampin' Dimensionals as shown.

This technique can be easily adapted for any embossing folder to create a distinctive background or accent for your papercrafting projects.

Project of the Week: Halloween Water Bottle Holder

If you are looking for something a bit different to make this Halloween, try out these easy Halloween-themed water bottle hangers! There's a little pocket on the front to put a package of Crystal Light or something similar. This version of the project features Wicked Cool (W118738/C120600) from the Idea Book and Catalogue.

Step by Step Directions

Cut Rich Razzleberry cardstock to 2.75 x 11.
Score at 3 inches, and then flip over and score at 8 inches. Fold along score lines. One score will have the cardstock flipping up, and the other will be the one that hangs on the bottle.
For the bottle hanger part, take the 1 3/8 Circle Punch and push it in all the way – this will centre it for you top to bottom. Be sure to Centre side to side and then punch.
Flip up other panel and secure sides using Mini Glue Dots to create a pocket.
Cut Old Olive Cardstock to 2.5 x 2.5, and Whisper White Cardstock to 2.25 x 2.25. Stamp images as desired. Above the Web is Basic Grey, the Boots are Rich Razzleberry and Spooky is in Old Olive.
Adhere stamped panel to Old Olive piece with SNAIL, and then attach to bottle holder using SNAIL. Top off witch's boots with rhinestones.
Stamp bats on top portion of hanger in Rich Razzleberry Classic to create a tone on tone effect.
Punch three bats using the Bitty Bat Punch out of Basic Black. Adhere to hanger using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Hi folks! I am back from a very wonderful and relaxing week at the cottage with my family during what has been a record breaking scorching hot week here in Ottawa! We were so happy to be by the lake. I don't usually post pictures of my boys here but these are just too cute not to share;

I woke up to sunshine this morning and have lots of fun stuff planned with the family today. It’s going to be great fun! I wish you all a safe and fun filled Canada Day! xo

Today I want to show you the gift we got for Owen's teacher. I know that I have posted a similar card HERE, but I wanted to show you how you can get inspiration for colors in different places such as magazines, home decor, or in this case, fabric.

I found this beautiful silk scarf, which I knew Owen's teacher would absolutely love, and wanted to purchase a cute gift bag to put it in. The color of the scarf is very similar to Stampin' Up! Kraft (newly named Crumb Cake). While walking around Indigo, I saw this lunch bag that was Very Vanilla with Cameo Coral, Crumb Cake and So Saffron.

On the way home, I was already thinking of what I would do for the card. I remembered that I had some retired SU designer paper called Walk in the Park that had a patterned sheet of Cameo Coral. I also thought that the Kind & Caring Thoughts stamp set (2009-2010 Hostess level 3 set) would be perfect for it! Here is the card close up...

Oops... I got so caught up in retiring lists, retiring parties and the arrival of the new catalogue that I forgot to post this.

Last Monday was my birthday and I received some beautiful handmade cards from friends, family and customers that I want to share with you.

As I am posting these, I am realising that I didn't take a picture of the card that my friend Maggie (my Stamping BFF ...a little inside joke! LOL) made for me using the Pedalling Past stamp set. I will have to do that and post it later. It's so very cute, she's almost got me convinced that I NEED to order that set. *wink, wink*

May Stamp Club Projects Using Pastels

For last month's stamp club, a member asked me to teach techniques using pastels. I was quite happy because frankly, I just don't use them enough...and I should! Pastels are great if you want to achieve a soft look.

Here is what I mean....

We used the Popping Pastels technique. Here are the steps for this card;

Stamp your image on Whisper White with Versamark. I find it works best with a bold stamp. Here we used the Medallion stamp.
Take your Stampin' pastels and a sponge dauber and in a tapping motion add the pastel color to the versamarked image that you stamped on the paper. The pastel powder on the sponge will stick to the image. Only do one image at a time so it stays sticky. On this card I used Elegant Eggplant in the middle, then Orchid Opulence and finally, Pale Plum on the outside.
I added a strip of Elegant Eggplant that I punched with the scallop trim border punch (which will be available in the Catalogue on July 1st!) and then added a piece of white organza ribbon.
I then layered it on my Orchid Opulence card base. This card measures 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" and fits perfectly in the medium square envelops.
I stamped the sentiment from Sincere Salutations, in Pale Plum on Whisper White, then punched it out using the large oval punch. I then layered it on a piece of Elegant Eggplant which was punched with the scallop oval punch. I popped it with some dimensionals.

We also used pastels on the second card but this time in a very different way.

Can you spot the pastels!? This technique is called Shimmery Pastels and I found the tutorial on Tami White's blog. It is very subtle but creates a beautiful effect. Here, we used it on the butterflies. Look more closely...

Sweet Scoops Dazzling Card

Wow! How does life get so busy, that I run out of time to post? I just enjoyed a wonderful weekend with my hubby and boys. The weather was beautiful here in Ottawa so we spent lots of time at the park as well as getting some gardening done. Oh! I am so tempted to plant some flowers but I think it may be smart to wait another week or so. After all, we did get a little snow here last week!!!

On to some stamping… I have stamped quite a bit in the last little while. Today I want to share the two cards that we made at my Sunflower Papercrafters team meeting last month. I love getting together with the girls so that we can share the projects that we have created.

Stampin' Up! Retiring Colors: Important News Update

Stampin' Up! Retiring Colors NEWS UPDATE:
(Please read carefully if you need to order retiring color products)

IMPORTANT DATES:
June 1 - Retiring colors available only “while supplies last”
June 1 - Last Chance list of stamp sets and accessories will be available
June 30 - Last day to order any retiring product (if not out-of-stock)

With Stampin’ Up!’s recent Color Renovation announcement, we have experienced a spike–much greater than anticipated–in demand for some of our retiring colors. Even with the most careful planning and all of the company’s forecasts from previous color transitions and current buying behaviors, the demand was greatly underestimated.

For re-inkers in retiring colors, as we run out, they will be placed on backorder status and those orders will be filled as quickly as we receive the product. We will continue to do this to the best of our ability through May, and then the re-inkers will be available while supplies last in June.

Card stock presents a bit larger problem, and because of this, textured paper may be substituted for some of the smooth colors–including card stock in 8-1/2″ x 11″ as well as 12″ x 12″–where the smooth is no longer available. You will notice these colors go on backorder, and we will be filling as many of those as possible with textured card stock. Because the demand for each color varies, we are unable to provide a list of what colors of card stock will be substituted with textured, or at what point that will happen. However, if you receive a package of card stock that is textured instead of smooth, there will be a sticker on the package indicating that change.

All a Flutter swap card

When I went to Phoenix for the Leadership Convention in January, I was lucky enough to experience it with a fantastic group of demonstrators that are my sidelines. My stamping sisters, if you would like :)

We decided, in order to keep in touch and share our craft, (since we don't all live in the same city, or province for that matter) that we would organize a swap whenever a new Stampin' Up! catalogue would come out. Here is the card that I made for them:

I used the All a Flutter single stamp on page 31 of the Summer mini catalogue. (Click HERE to download the catalogue pdf. file!).

I saw a card made by Sandi MacIver a couple months back with a tag on the front of the card. I saved it in my favorites so that I could CASE it at some point. My card is very similar except that I used different colors and stamps.

The cardstock from the tag is actually the new Presto Patterns Designer Paper. I LOVE this paper!!! So many possibilities!!! The image is already on the paper but the paper is white so you can use a sponge, or brayer with the color of your choice to make the image "pop" out. The best way to explain it is that it's as if the images on the paper were embossed with clear ink. If that makes any sense!? On my tag, I brought out the pattern from the Presto Patterns paper by sponging with More Mustard and Dusty Durango. Have a closer look here...

The butterfly image was inked in Basic Black Craft ink and then embossed with clear powder.

I couldn't decide whether I wanted to color the butterfly in or not. I ended up not coloring it on my swap cards but did make one for myself. Here it is...

Join me for this class and make 10 beautiful cards fast using a unique One Sheet Wonder template. A One Sheet Wonder is a technique for using a single stamped sheet of cardstock cut into multiple pieces to create a quick-to-make set of cards, 3-D projects or scrapbook pages.

I’ll also be showing you how our versatile Medallion stamp can add interest and color with the Baby Wipe Technique. This set features rich colors that span the seasons making it a perfect set to use year round or give as a gift for any occasion.

SCRAPBOOKING CLASS

Join me for this scrapbooking class where we will complete 2 – 12x12 layouts that you can use for wedding, family or a special occasion photos! This month, we will be using stencils and some distressing techniques to give our pages a Vintage look.

Simple Inspired by Nature Card Using Few Supplies

Here is one of the cards that we made at my monthly card class last Thursday.

I saw a similar card to this one on the web. I thought this was a fantastic way to show that you can make beautiful cards with only a few products. The image was stamped with Versamark which is a clear pigment ink that gives the effect of a watermark. I think that this is one item that you should own when you are just starting out. By having the Versamark, you then have a color of ink that matches any cardstock you have on hand.

Supplies

Stamps: Inspired by Nature (#111656), Teeny Tiny Wishes (# 115370)

Cardstock: Dusty Durango

Ink: Versamark

Accessories: Hemp twine, Mini library clips, Dimensionals, paper cutter, adhesive

Step by step instruction:

1. Cut a sheet of 8 ½ x 11 in half length wise to give you a piece that measures 8 ½ x 5 ½. Fold in half. This is our card base.

2. Cut another piece out of the same color of cardstock measuring 4 x 5 ¼ to use as your card front.

3. Ink your stamp in the Versamark, stamp it on the 4 x 5 ¼ piece of cardstock. I stamped the grass image first, then the flower image.

4. Distress the edges of the piece of cardstock using a distress tool (or do as I do, use your scissors!)

5. Wrap a piece of hemp twine around the piece of cardstock.

6. Stamp your sentiment on a strip of scrap cardstock. Trim as desired.

7. Adhere the strip with dimensional. Add mini library clip to end.

8. Adhere your card front to the base of the card.

For an added touch, I like to stamp the envelop as well. I like when things match! *smile*

With all of the great products such as paper punches, die cutters, embellishments such as brads, buttons, ribbon and so much more, we forget about the basics. You can make beautiful cards using stamps, ink and paper. This is what we call a SIP card!

Here is a card I designed for Melissa's card class with her work colleagues.

She wanted a card that was quick, easy but still pretty! I think we succeeded in showing new stampers that everyone can stamp, whether you are crafty or not : )

Supplies:

Stamps: Circle Circus, Well Scripted

Cardstock: Kraft, Ruby Red, Ivory Naturals

Ink: Ruby Red, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip

Accessories: Paper Cutter, Snail Adhesive

Now if you wanted to step this card up a little, you could easily do that by adding a few embellishments. Circle punches are great punches to own, especially when working with a stamp set such as Circle Circus. To add some dimension to this card, I stamped the smaller circle in Ruby Red classic ink on Ruby Red cardstcok and then punched it out with a 3/4" circle punch. I then popped them up by using some dimensionals. Add a little Chocolate Chip 1/4" grosgrain ribbon and voila!
